Title reads "African Mirror No. 150 / Madagascar". Intertitle following reads "A Brief Description of a Little Known Island That is World Headline New To-day" [sic].

On a basic map of the island of Madagascar we see the port of Diego Suarez, occupied at this time by British Forces. At the capital city of Antananarivo / Tananarive we see several shots of the countryside around the city and street scenes; the market place; ducklings and pigs (tied in pairs at the trotter) for sale. A narrow gauge steam train passes through on its way to the east coast. Local men carry westerners on sedan chairs along roads and across a river. Ox are herded over mountains.

We see several tribes of the island; they are seen panning for gold, threshing corn and harvesting rice; oxen are seen swimming across a river. Other locals are seen speeding down rivers in canoes. M/S of a group of monkeys in a tree. Various shots of tribesmen felling trees in the jungle; logs are transported by canoes on the river. In a village two tribesmen wrestle before a crowd. Men from another tribe practise spear-throwing. A man catches an ox to be sacrificed; several shots of the celebrations and praying before the ox head (rather patronising commentary refers to these villagers as 'little people').

Commentator talks of how, in enemy hands the island could have menaced the vital lines of supplies that go round the Cape (of Africa) and up to the Middle East, "but this time the United Nations got in first!" Several shots of British Navy warships at sea as the soundtrack plays 'Rule Britannia'.
